Le caratteristiche principali di questa nuova reflex digitale Canon 7D sono:

Questa nuova Canon 7D è una macchina che segnerà il futuro. Per prima cosa perché non rappresenta un upgrade di una Canon DSLR già
esistente ma è un prodotto che si colloca su un nuovo segmento per impensierire direttamente la rivale Nikon D300.
Almeno sulla carta si presenta come un prodotto eccezionale ed innovativo.
Analizziamo qualche dettaglio della 7D ...
Sensore CMOS da 18 MP APS-C
Nuovo sensore con tecnologia gapless con la risoluzione più alta sul mercato (in riferimento alla sua dimensione fisica APS-C).
Questo il vero dilemma. Già la 50D con i suoi 15MP mostrava qualche cedimento, con 18MP come sarà!?! Se si comporta bene è una risoluzione che non pone limiti alla
fantasia.
Sensibilità ISO
Sensibilità fino a 6.400ISO espandibile ulteriormente a 12.800ISO. Bisognerà vedere come sono isabili gli alti ISO ma Canon da questo punto di vista ci ha viziato come
nessuno.
Raffica da 8 fps (fotogrammi per secondo)
Ascoltate bene: raffica da 8fps per RAW da 14bit a 18MP!!! A me sembra tantissimo!!! E' questa una macchina che farà gola a molti fotografi sportivi.
Nuovo sistema di esposizione iFCL (Focus Colour Luminance)
Nuovo anche il sensore per l'esposizione: sensore a doppio strato a 63 zone.
Copertura mirino 100%
Copertura del mirino 100%: come le full-frame!
Altra grande innovazione: nel mirino è presente una livella elettronica orizzontale sui 2 assi per orizzonti perfettamente allineati.
Nuovo AF da 19 punti
Completamente nuovo il sensore AF.
Tutti i punti sono di tipo a croce, con il punto centrale sensibile sia ad f/2,8 che ad f/5,6.
Inoltre viene proposta una nuova e innovativa modalità di selezione dei punti di messa a fuoco in base a delle zone.
Dual processor DIGIC 4
Ben due processori "DIGIC 4" per dare velocità alla macchina, gestire al meglio il rumore e la registrazione video Full HD.
Canon afferma che con il nuovo DIGIC IV si possono avere immagini a 6400 ISO aventi lo stesso rumore di immagini scattate a 1600 ISO con il precedente processore DIGIC
III. Notevole vero!?!
Trasmettitore Speedlite integrato
Altra grande caratteristica. La EOS 7D finalmente include la possibilità (come le Nikon!) di controllare un flash esterno (sempre mediante infrarossi) senza ST-E2 o
580EX II e incorpora un flash grandangolare capace di coprire un angolo di campo fino a 15 mm.
LE MIE CONCLUSIONI...
Cosa mi spinge a valutare l'acquisto di questa macchina?
Innanzitutto nel complesso è un ottimo compromesso tra la fascia puramente professionale e quella semi-professionale. Diciamo che era il prodotto che in Canon
mancava.
Il mirino elettronico con copertura del 100% è sicuramente una caratteristica che fa gola e che finalmente arriva su una DSLR che non costa un occhio.
Altra caratteristica che finalmente si affaccia su una Canon è il trasmettitore Speedlite integrato.
Poi ci sono i nuovi sensori di messa a fuoco ed esposizione che sono stati notevolmente migliorati. E per finire la raffica di 8 fotogrammi al secondo.
Ieri, 05/10/2009, a Cosenza c'è stata una serata Canon dedicata alla presentazione dei nuovi prodotti. Ovviamente, c'era la Canon EOS 7D regina indiscussa della serata.
Hanno mostrato due foto, due ritratti identitci uno scattato a 100ISO e l'altro scattato a 6400ISO. La pulizia ad alti ISO è veramente notevole. Questa mia
considerazione è stata avvalorata su strada dal test fatto da ZMPHOTO.
Non c'è che dire, è una macchina che la concorrenza dovrà cercare di eguagliare!

Direi che non è poco vero!
Certo bisognerà aspettare ancora i test ufficiali!?! E i test ufficiali sono arrivati. Sono arrivati i test dell'autorevole DPREVIEW (vedi nell'apposita sezione di
questo articolo) e la Canon 7D ne esce promossa a pieni voti. C'è chi dice che 18MP sono troppi per un sensore così piccolo? Dai test risulta che rispetto alla D300 ci
sia più dettaglio. Parlando di numeri infatti si vede che

PRO
- Image quality is very good. Images are full of detail.
- The viewfinder. It’s big and bright.
- 8fps is never a bad thing to have.
- Flash master finally built in.
- 19 AF Points. This to me is the perfect amount. Having 40+ selectable AF points is crazy!
- 30p and 24p at 1080p
- Video quality is amazing, wish I knew what I was doing with it.
- The Liveview and VF leveling tool is a nice touch.
- Compact Flash. No SD slot is fine by me, I never want CF to die.
- Lots of button mapping options, more than any other EOS.
- Menu System. They are easy to navigate. I especially like Custom Function IV Menu 1. The graphical display of what button you’re mapping is great.
- The toggle switch for movies and stills is the best yet for EOS.
- "Q" Button, accessing & navigating the Quick Control screen is a breeze.
- No "Scene Modes". I like that folks will have to be forced to learn a little bit about photography. Auto & Creative still there, but we’re progressing!
- The on/off switch is idiot proof now.
CONTRO
- In high speed drive mode (8fps), you may not actually get 8fps in certain situations. See page 93 of the manual (Canada/USA). Drive speed is also affected in full M
mode. According to Canon, this is because of the new metering system in the camera. It’s far more accurate at the expense of some FPS.
- AWB still stinks. I don’t think that will ever change.
- Liveview AF still hasn’t improved in speed.
- 18mp – Not because of noise and all that (and it definitely contributes to noise). I’m just happy with the 10mp filesize. An optimized 10-12mp sensor would have been
grand. I hate to beat a dead horse.
- ISO performance hasn’t improved enough over the 50D to be a reason to upgrade. I didn’t notice any difference in prints.
- Chipped battery. I don’t like paying more for batteries that give no real advantage in performance.
- No ergonomic improvement to the battery grip, how about another joystick?
- No affordable GPS addon yet.

5) Test fatto sul nuovo sistema autofocus della 7D. L'articolo lo potete leggere qui, è stato fatto dal sito www.traumflieger.de (lo dovete leggere in tedesco!!!). Mastico poco il tedesco ma sembrerebbe che i risultati sono da
prima della classe.

In questo caso la Canon EOS 7D non ne esce benissimo. Secondo l'autore non ha prestazioni nettamente superiori alle precedenti.
Firmware
Uscito il firmware 1.1.0 che offre i seguenti miglioramenti:
1. Corrects a phenomenon that in images captured by continuous
shooting, and under certain conditions, barely noticeable traces of the immediately preceding frame may be visible.

1. Improves AF accuracy during Live View
shooting.
2. Corrects a phenomenon where in rare instances, movie images shot by the camera may exhibit abnormal colors.
3. Corrects a phenomenon that at certain timings, the shutter cannot be released when the camera's built-in flash or an external Speedlite is used for shooting.
